Marty Conley's Big Band Express

Kurt began his musical journey in his teenage years. After hearing John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins play Tenor Madness he became hooked on Jazz and has never looked back. Growing up in the Los Angles area provided ample opportunity to hear Jazz live and his love for saxophone grew. Kurt started playing saxophone at the age of 17. Following high school he spent a brief time in the Bay Area studying music in college. After starting a family and realizing that they needed to eat and have a roof over their heads, Kurt took a job as an airline mechanic for American Airlines. 25 years later Kurt's passion for saxophone has never left him. He has been a resident of San Diego for 20 years, plays with the San Diego Legacy Big Band, Moonlighters Quintet, and now is honored to be part of the outstanding musicians that make up Marty Conley's Big Band Express.
